Mash Maker: mashups para las masas

Intel ha lanzado Mash Maker, una herramienta para acercar el mundo de las mushups a cualquier persona independientemente del nivel de conocimientos técnicos de los que disponga.Se trata de una extensión para el navegador que nos sugiere la utilización de mashups creadas con la información de la página que estamos visitando. De esa forma podemos ampliar la utilidad de una web añadiendo información de otras fuentes. Además Mash Maker cuida el concepto de comunidad. Si algún usuario sabe de la existencia de una mashup que Mash Maker todavía no “conoce” puede incluirla y de forma automática será sugerida al resto de usuarios.

Parakey: para qué??

Otra de las alternativas para las aplicaciones online/offline (por cierto, ha sido comprada por Facebook)

We enjoy programming, but ultimately we started this company to make computers better for average people who turn to technology for convenience, not...adventure. When people need to call their "computer friend" in 2007 to install a program, scan a document, burn a CD or show a picture to a friend, there is a problem. Fixing it will take time and the patience to sit down with users and understand them.

Does SOA Need MEST on Top of REST?

From the people who brought you Guerrilla SOA comes Message Exchange State Transfer (MEST) to compete for service-oriented architecture (SOA) developers' attention with Representation State Transfer (REST) and good old SOAP. MEST is how Guerrilla SOA will get done, according to Jim Webber, Ph.D., SOA practice lead for the ThoughtWorks Inc., the leading proponent of the guerrilla approach. Meanwhile, Savas Parastatidis, MSc., PhD. and technical computing architect at Microsoft, has written a definition of MEST that also compares and contrasts it with REST. Parastatidis sees REST as being primarily about resources at the end of URLs where MEST would be the paradigm for the basic message in a business applications, such as an invoice requiring an action in a basic accounting system. "We would like to see MEST become for service-orientation and Web Services what REST is for resource-orientation and the Web," writes Parastatidis. In explaining the basics of MEST, Parastatidis lists four key points: (1) MEST is not an application protocol in the same way that REST is not one either; (2) It is based on the transfer of a message and the processing of the contents of that message in application-specific ways; (3) The behavior of what happens with the contents of a message is defined through protocols (description of complex message-exchange patterns); (4) MEST attempts to describe service-oriented architectures in terms of services and messages and a set of architectural principles.

iTunes U: el canal universitario de iTunes

Apple ofrece un canal específico para los contenidos universitarios dentro de iTunes. El que esta aplicación sea tan popular entre los estudiantes es una ventaja para introducir contenidos (audio, video) a través de este canal. En síntesis, iTunes permite a cada universidad controlar el aspecto y los contenidos que se ofrecen a través de su espacio dentro de iTunes U. Ver

Es un canal más de distribución de los contenidos que se suma al blog de la asignatura, LMS de la institución, web personal del profesor, web de la universidad, etc

Por otra parte, también parece interesante poder indexar estos contenidos como un repositoiro más.
